Social Media Policies

This Notice describes the Social Media Policies of Agor Behavioral Health Services. Please review this notice carefully.
Friend and Contact Requests; Following
Dr. Agor and the staff of Agor Behavioral Health Services do not accept friend and contact requests from current or former clients, nor do they follow current or former clients on any Social Networking website. This includes, but is not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. Maintaining this separation maintains confidentiality and also provides both parties with privacy.
Dr. Agor and the staff of Agor Behavioral Health Services do not “follow” any current or former clients on any social media site.
Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc. does maintain a Business website, at www.doctoragor.com, which allows Dr. Agor and the staff of Agor Behavioral Health Services to share general information and articles. Private conversations are not allowed.
Social Media Messaging and Communication
Dr. Agor and the staff of Agor Behavioral Health Services do not accept or use messaging from Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn; or other short messaging services (SMS). Timeline posts, status updates and other public online messaging is not allowed with current or former clients. All of these methods compromise confidentiality and privacy. Please note, if a current or former client does engage in contacting Dr. Agor or other staff members in the practice in these ways, the conversations will become part of his/her legal medical record. As such, they will be documented and included in the client record.
Clients who need to contact Dr. Agor, or any other staff member of Agor Behavioral Health Services, should do so by contacting the main office number at 630-621-5824 or emailing email@example.com. Other staff email addresses are found on the company website at www.doctoragor.com.
Researching Current or Former Clients
Dr. Agor and other Agor Behavioral Health Services staff members do not perform Internet searches on current or former clients. An exception may be made if Dr. Agor, or another provider, determines that a client may be in danger or has not communicated in a regular fashion. If an Internet search is determined to be necessary, the client will be informed at the next appointment and the search will be documented and added to the client record.
Sharing Articles, Websites and Other Links
Dr. Agor and Agor Behavioral Health Services only share articles, websites and other links on the company website or company LinkedIn pages. If a client would like to share an item with one of the providers, he/she is asked to bring the information in to the next appointment.
Agor Behavioral Health Services may be found on various business sites, such as Google, Bing, Psychology Today, Yelp and other business listing sites. Many of these business listing sites also include “customer reviews.” Neither Dr. Agor, nor any representative of Agor Behavioral Health Services, solicits reviews from current or former clients. If a review is shown on any of these sites, it was not as a result of a request from the practice. Solicitation of testimonials is strictly prohibited by the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, as stated in Principle 5.05: “Psychologists do not solicit testimonials from current therapy clients/patients or other persons who because of their particular circumstances are vulnerable to undue influence.” (To review the complete Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, visit http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index.aspx .)
Dr. Agor and the staff of Agor Behavioral Health Services recognize the right of each person to express himself/herself on any review website. In keeping with the spirit of confidentiality, please know that no one from the practice will respond to any online review. All clients are encouraged to maintain his/her own privacy. If compelled to leave an online review, use of a nickname may help maintain privacy.
If a current or former client feels that Dr. Agor or any staff member of Agor Behavioral Health Services has done something unethical or harmful, and he/she is not comfortable discussing the matter with one of the providers, the Illinois Psychologist Licensing and Disciplinary Board may be contacted to review provided services. Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Location-Based Services (LBS)
Clients should be aware that the use of GPS and LBS on mobile phones may compromise privacy. Agor Behavioral Health Services does not participate in “check-in” services offered by sites such as Foursquare, Facebook and others. However, if GPS tracking or an LBS application on a client mobile device is turned on, others may possible determine from frequent check-ins that he/she is a therapy client.
Electronic Mail and Text Messages
Dr. Agor and Agor Behavioral Health Services do allow email and text message communications for scheduling or rescheduling appointments. Details regarding therapy sessions should not be included in the content of emails since information sent via email may not be confidential. Any emails received from current or former clients do become part of client records. Clients understand that any information sent via email and text message are not secure and may not be confidential. Such messages are sent at the client’s own risk.
