Free 20-minute Consultations at Agor Behavioral Health Services

Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc. offers a free consultation to provide an opportunity to meet and evaluate what it would be like to work with a potential therapist.

Why consider a consultation?

“A free consultation provides many benefits,” stated Dr. William Agor, PsyD, owner of Agor Behavioral Health Service, Inc., “It offers people a chance to find the right therapist to guide them through problems and collaborate to create solutions to resolve them. Clients can decide if the therapist is a good fit without any obligation. This first visit gives new clients a chance to ask questions, learn about the therapist and then decide if the therapist is someone who can help them.”

Dr. Agor recommends that clients come prepared to the consultation. The following questions can help determine if the therapist is a good fit for them:

  • What is your approach to therapy?
  • What is your experience working with others who face similar issues to mine?
  • Will you give me assignments to work through in between appointments?
  • Do you consult with other therapists if needed?
  • How am I to contact you?
  • Do you accept my insurance plan?

After the Consultation

Once a client meets with the therapist, Dr. Agor suggests he or she review their consultation to help determine if the therapist is a good fit. Some questions to consider about the consultation:

  • Did you feel comfortable with the therapist?
  • Did you feel safe in the office space?
  • Did you feel you can talk to the therapist about the issues or problems that you seek to resolve through counseling?
  • Is the therapist available on the days and times you would like to meet?
  • Can you afford the fee?

Dr. Agor encourages potential new clients to meet with one of the providers in the practice. Therapists providing the free consultations at the new office include Dr. Rosa LaPietra, PsyD; Dr. Sarah Syed, PsyD; Lisa Eaton, MSW, LCSW, CADC; and Jennifer Loughran, LCSW.

“Choice of working with a specific mental health therapist is just as important as choosing your medical doctors,” shared Dr. LaPietra. “ I encourage patients to spend a few moments ‘interviewing’ a therapist to determine if this will be a good fit. I also encourage therapists to do the same. No one wants to spend their time working on such intimate problems when they feel uncomfortable or discouraged.”

Dr. Syed believes every individual, couple and family are unique, bringing their own set of experiences to therapy. “I work with my clients in a way that is comfortable to them and respects their values and beliefs,” said Dr. Syed.

Lisa Eaton brings her experience treating young children, adolescents and families to the practice. “I care about helping people find and learn to believe in their own abilities,” said Eaton. “Helping others to see and feel that they are stronger and more resilient than they realize is inspiring for me.”

Jennifer Loughran has extensive experience working with individuals, children, adolescents, families and groups. “I believe that when people are experiencing difficult times in their lives, the combination of support and introduction of new skills will provide a sense of relief and the ability to cope with day to day struggles.” explained Loughran.
