Jennifer Stafiej, MEd, PsyD, Postdoctoral Clinician
Dr. Jennifer Stafiej’s approach to therapy is to establish an excellent therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. She works together with families on identifying and monitoring goals for maximizing personal success. Dr. Stafiej believes in using a client’s strengths as a means for developing a foundation for productive change and a sense of personal empowerment. She is dedicated to ensure children and their families thrive in school, at home, and in their daily lives.
Dr. Stafiej’s experience working with parents to discuss learning, behavioral, familial and social issues is focused on collaboratively planning specific goals and a course of action to achieve ongoing success. She has experience in developing supportive interventions that can be implemented within the home and in the educational setting. Dr. Stafiej’s experience as a school psychologist has allowed her to gain procedural knowledge that has been useful in guiding parents through the steps of receiving special education support. She has effectively served as a liaison between parents, teachers and school personnel by streamlining the transition between school and community learning environments.
In addition to working within an educational setting, Dr. Stafiej has worked in hospitals, mental health centers and in an independent living facility. She has extensive experience working with various issues that include ADHD, anger management, anxiety, Autism spectrum disorders, executive functioning, depression, learning disabilities, oppositional and defiant behaviors, Selective Mutism, self-esteem, school refusal and social thinking.
She believes in supporting children and their families during challenging moments in their lives by utilizing evidenced-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectial Behavior Therapy (DBT), Client-Centered Therapy, Social Thinking, Behavior Modification and Social Skills Training, which all have been scientifically proven to achieve success.
Dr. Jennifer Stafiej, Post Doctoral Clinician, received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology program and her M.Ed. from Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Stafiej dedicated several years working with children and families as a school psychologist before transitioning into the field of clinical psychology. As a certified school psychologist, she specializes in conducting psychological and neuropsychological assessments related to intellectual functioning, academic achievement, adaptive behavior, and personality.
