Lisa Eaton, MSW, LCSW, CADC
Lisa believes that it takes a lot of courage to meet with a therapist, and she is sensitive to the journeys that lead people to her office. Lisa utilizes a friendly, collaborative approach in developing relationships with her clients. She feels that one of the most important change agents in the treatment process is the relationship developed between client and therapist. Lisa strives to help her clients feel comfortable and safe, and works to help her clients build skills to manage stressors and overcome obstacles, so they can feel happier and more in control of their own life. She uses a strengths-based approach, along with evidenced-based therapy techniques, to help her clients move from where they are to where they want to be.
Lisa’s areas of specialty include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, and bipolar disorder; adolescent and adult substance abuse issues; parent training and child behavior issues; family conflict and divorce; treating adult and childhood trauma, including PTSD; and working with clients on issues related to self-esteem, healthy relationships, identity development, and goal-setting.
Some of Lisa’s specialized treatment approaches include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, ACT, Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and many different Play Therapy approaches, including Trauma-Focused Integrated Play Therapy.
Lisa offers virtual therapy (also known as Tele-Therapy Sessions) – phone or video sessions are available. Tele-Therapy Sessions are a great option for those clients who struggle to make it in for regular office appointments, due to busy work schedules, commuting times, frequent business traveling, weather conditions, parenting demands, or health issues. Imagine receiving the benefits of regular therapy support from the comfort of your own home! Tele-Therapy allows the client to avoid taking time off of work for appointments, finding childcare, commuting to the office, and waiting in waiting rooms.
Lisa structures her Tele-Therapy sessions in the same way she structures her in-person sessions. For example, during a Tele-Therapy session, Lisa explores a client’s current concerns and feelings, and teaches skills and proposes solutions in the same ways she would during an in-person session.
If at any point a client feels like the Tele-Therapy sessions are no longer a good fit, Lisa will recommend a local therapist at Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc., that she feels would be a good fit, so in-person sessions can be resumed.
