Families of children with special needs often avoid taking family vacations as they feel it would be difficult to find a new place that will be adaptable to their child’s special needs. Children on the autism spectrum can have a difficult time dealing with the changing schedules and routines that come with taking a holiday trip. However, this does not mean that they should not have the opportunity to explore the world around them like other children. Screen Time: How Much Is Too Much?

Growing up, children emulate adults around them – this is no secret. In a hyper-connected world where adults seem to always be hooked to their computer and smart-device screens, it is only natural that children will demand their share of screen-time too. Often, busy parents hand over their laptops, tablets or smartphones to their children to keep them preoccupied and out of their way. Children have grown so attached to these devices that parents have now begun to use screen time as a reward or incentive for good behavior. Why are social skills such a challenge? Social skills can be a challenge for children because there are several components that go into socialization.  The following is a list of skills boys and girls utilize on a daily basis to socialize with others: Theory of Mind refers to understanding that others have a different perspective or opinion than yours and recognizing others have feelings.
