What You Need to Know About PTSD

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that develops when a person has been exposed to a traumatic incident like death of a loved one, a natural disaster, injury or sexual abuse. One is said to be suffering from PTSD when the stress of an incident affects their daily lives, long after the episode is over. It is important to understand that PTSD is a real condition, and people suffering from it need immediate assistance.   It can happen to anyone  PTSD can affect anybody, regardless of age, children and adults alike can be afflicted with this condition. In children, the symptoms show up differently than in adults. They are prone to start complaining about headaches and stomachaches, refusing to go out with friends and not being able to talk.  Adults may start having trouble falling asleep, feel sad and troubled all the time, think about hurting themselves and frequently display anger.
